It was a historic day for Norwegian Forest Cats in Britain on 22nd February this year. The Norwegian Forest Cat Club held its first Championship show and there was a record gathering of Norwegian Forest Cats of almost every possible colour. At European shows the NFC is very popular and will often number more than 200 at an all-breed show, but for those of us who have worked towards this day for many years, the entry of 90 Norwegian Forest Cats and 10 beautiful household pets was exciting news indeed. Although the weather had been cold and foggy the previous day the sun shone on the Grieg Centre, Alcester in Warwickshire on show day and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. Exhibitors had travelled from as far afield as Scotland, Devon and even the Loire valley in France to be part of this memorable occasion and one judge had come all the way from Australia! The grand finale of the day was selection of the Best in Show cats, and after much deliberation the line-up was as follows:

Well done to all the show winners and a big Thank You to all who supported the show with their time and effort as well as entries!

Also worthy of mention, a lovely, soon to be 11 year old forest cat who has been gracing the show benches of the UK for many years, is Ch Volsung Dustin - the oldest cat at the show!

It was a wonderful day, a great show with a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere too. We hope to see even more of you at next year's Championship show.
